1. Scope and Contact
RAPT Studio ("RAPT", "we", "us", or "our") provides RAPT, a self-control app that helps users manage screen time and phone use through self-directed blocking, awareness, and habit-support features. This Privacy Policy applies to the RAPT mobile app, related services, support, and paid features.
Questions or privacy requests can be sent to rapt.support@gmail.com.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect account and contact information such as your email address, sign-in identifiers, display name, onboarding status, and support messages you send to us.
We may collect device and service information such as app version, device or session status, diagnostics, crash information, notification tokens, and security signals needed to operate RAPT. Notification tokens are used for service messages, not advertising.
We may collect the rules and activity needed to run RAPT, such as selected apps, domains, schedules, timers, place rules, screen-time summaries, blocked-attempt records, entitlements, and related account state.
We may collect and store account-level time-zone and device-session metadata, including active device slots, device check-in status, last-seen times, and the account time zone used for schedules, daily limits, summaries, and related records.
If you enable device-control features, RAPT may process information about apps available on your device, app screen-time signals, the app currently in use, limited visible on-screen or browser information needed to identify blocked websites, and location information for place-based blocking.
Screen-time, app-usage, blocking, permission, location, and device-control signals may be incomplete, delayed, approximate, unavailable, duplicated, reset, shifted, or affected by operating-system behavior, device settings, time-zone changes, system clock changes, device restarts, emulator behavior, reinstalls, permission changes, network conditions, or third-party services.
RAPT may process local device data to enforce your rules even when account sync or cloud services are unavailable. Local data may be cleared by uninstalling the app, clearing app data, operating-system cleanup, changing devices, or restoring from a device backup.
To organize installed apps by category, RAPT may query app store databases. This is used only for category display and target selection.
If you make purchases or contact support, we may collect subscription or interlude records, refund or entitlement records, issue reports, optional screenshots, and troubleshooting information you choose to send.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to sign you in, operate and enforce blocking features, restore or sync eligible account state, process purchases and entitlements, respond to support requests, and maintain security, fraud prevention, and service reliability.
We use device-control and usage signals to provide estimates, safeguards, unlock flows, interruption handling, and product diagnostics, but these signals are not intended to be a precise, guaranteed, or forensic record of device activity.
We may also use service data for internal analytics and service health. We do not sell personal or sensitive user data.
4. How and When We Share Information
We may share information with service providers that help us operate RAPT, such as providers for sign-in, hosting, storage, messaging, purchase validation, payment processing, mapping, and customer support.
If you use location, mapping, or support features, the providers involved may receive the limited data reasonably necessary to perform those functions.
We may also disclose information when required by law or legal process, to protect users or the service, or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset transfer.
5. Permissions and Sensitive Device Access
RAPT may request device access such as Accessibility, Usage Access, Device Admin, battery settings, notifications, and location, depending on the features you choose to enable. RAPT may also access the list of apps available on your device so you can choose targets to block.
Notifications may be used for service messages such as reminders and protection status. They are not used for advertising.
Device Admin is optional but recommended for Strict Mode reliability. RAPT does not prevent you from turning it off. If you turn it off during active strict protection, protection may be less reliable and RAPT may treat it as a protection interruption under your rules.
Device settings, platform changes, and network conditions may affect blocking and data accuracy.
These permissions are used only for service functions and the features you choose to enable. Where required, RAPT presents in-app disclosures or consent flows before access begins.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain account and service data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain reliable records, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and meet legal, tax, accounting, security, or fraud-prevention obligations.
Users can request account deletion using the app or the published web deletion flow. When deletion is completed, RAPT is designed to delete the account and most associated RAPT data, subject to technical limitations and lawful exceptions.
Some records may be retained where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, support continuity, or purchase and refund recordkeeping. Storefronts, payment processors, and other providers may keep their own lawful records under their own policies.
7. Security
We use measures intended to protect data, including HTTPS transport, access controls, and other reasonable safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Choices, Children, and Updates
You can manage many settings and permissions in the app, and you can contact us if you need help with privacy rights or account deletion. If you revoke required permissions, some features may stop working or may work less reliably.
RAPT is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If we learn we have collected such data, we will delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will be posted in the app and on the public policy page with the updated effective date.
